The half-time whistle has been blown!

by | Jul 7, 2021 | INSPIRATION, PLANNING, RESILIENCE, RESOURCES | 0 comments

We are officially past the halfway point of 2021! Hopefully it has been a rewarding first half for everyone, if not – now’s the time to regroup. Just like any good sports team, half-time is a crucial opportunity to reflect on what is going well and what we can fine tune to finish the second half with a win.

Which brings me to an important question – who is it you are competing against? You see, some business owners choose to focus on competitors, which is fine, but what is key for most businesses is a relentless focus on two core goals:

1/   How much profit you want your business to make for the year and, more strategically…

2/ What business value you want to create in the mid-to-long term.

As we start the second half of the year, why not take a quick half-time break to consider what is going well and what can be tweaked.

There’s another reason July is a special month for us here at Grow NZ Business, it’s our birthday!

We turn 4 years old this month and want to celebrate with the 8,000 kiwi business owners we have as members, whom we love and are always striving to support in any way we can.

We also have more than 45 partners, a rapidly-growing marketing agency in Grow NZ Marketing that helps kiwi businesses grow profitably, and so much more in the pipeline. Watch this space for some special birthday presents we have to share throughout the month.

Before we dive into the cake, we’ve pulled together a first half review below to help you refresh and reset for the weeks ahead. Over the next fortnight we’ll also be discussing critical plays for the second half of the year to ensure a successful finish to 2021 and a flourishing 2022, which is now less than 6 months away!

Mmmmmm. cake….

First half review: The top 8 from Grow NZ Business:

Well Prepared is Well Armed!: Like most sporting sides, we kicked into 2021 well before the actual game kicked off with some 2021 pre-season training: Goals, prioritisation, data and developing game plans. Now is a good time to revisit your goals, assess your progress and fine-tune your strategy in line with changing market conditions and risks.

The Concept of Over-Managing: Time is a limited and precious resource. Being deliberate with what you “over-manage” is critical to ensuring effective prioritisation to achieve goals.

Maximise Your Business Value: Here we offer high level tips to ensure you are working towards maximising the future value of your business. The eBook & webinar is available via your Grow NZ Members Portal.

Profitable Market Share: Gaining the right amount of market share to maximise profit is firstly about understanding how much share you have and what the most effective channels are for gaining share profitably.

Brothers, Sisters, Cousins & Strangers: This blog offers a different way of thinking about how you manage your marketing activities. Do you adjust your messaging and communications according to the level of trust you have built with your potential market?

Get The Skills You Need: Many of us are facing one of two challenges, or in some cases both; Acquiring the right skills and being able to pay for them. Acquiring the right skills at the right cost is key to building your business and achieving your strategic goals. Outsourcing can be an effective solution for any role that does not require a physical presence onsite.

Grow NZ Launches FAST in NZ: FAST is a game-changing eCommerce payments solution. Backed by Stripe, FAST allows your customers to make payments seamlessly and in seconds – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Watch this space for more exciting developments.

The Privacy Act 2020:  It’s not a choice, it’s the law and anyone that collects any form of customer data must comply. Access your Grow NZ Members Portal to download your free guide here.
